Pink Visual Mobile Goes Full Force With H.264

VAN NUYS, Calif. — Pink Visual announced today that it has officially licensed the H.264/AVC video codec, making the studio among the first adult entertainment companies to become properly licensed through MPEG LA, the company that administers H.264 licenses.

Pink Visual said it makes use of H.264 on its line of mobile sites, including the company’s flagship mobile property, iPinkVisualPass.com. The mobile sites are owned and operated by Buffalo Holdings Ltd.

The company said it is in the process of transitioning away from Windows Media and other video formats completely, and will soon use H.264 as the root format for all of its subscription site content.

The decision to fully transition to the H.264 codec comes on the heels of MPEG LA’s announcement that it will keep H.264 royalty-free for free content online, a move that Pink Visual applauded in a statement.

“MPEG LA’s decision was a smart one, as it helps position the H.264 as the codec of choice for the future,” the company said.

“For us, it reinforced that licensing for delivery of paid content was the right move, because MPEG LA’s decision helped secure the future relevance of H.264.”

Pink Visual’s statement indicated that the company will be using H.264 embedded in a Flash player as its primary video delivery mechanism, stating that this solution is something the company finds to be “better and easier to use than any other option currently on the market.”
